- Automatic transmission, which costs more on this island than almost anywhere and must be asked for early
- Fuel, tolls and the one ferry crossing if you take it
- All meals except breakfast and the cooking afternoon
- The excess reduction on the car insurance, which we will explain and which you may want
- Beach clubs and sun loungers, which are chargeable everywhere on the north coast
What it costs
from $2,540 per person, on two people sharing.
That is the lowest figure we have actually placed this trip at in the last season. It moves with the month, the room or cabin grade, whether you travel alone and how far ahead you book. Flights are not in it unless this page says they are. The figure is confirmed in writing, with the operator named, before you commit to anything.
When this is worth doing, and when it is not
May, June, September and the first half of October. The water is swimmable from June. August is the month to avoid outright: the island fills with people who arrive by ferry with their own cars, and the roads that make this trip pleasant become the opposite.
This trip needs a driver who is comfortable on narrow roads with stone walls on both sides and no shoulder. If that description makes you tense, the Sicily trip does the same work with a driver included.
What gets settled when you confirm
Transmission, first and immediately. The car category, because a compact is genuinely easier on the interior roads and we will push you toward one. Which base you take first, which depends on your flight times. And the exact properties, since both are small and neither holds rooms for long.
