Why the list is short
An agency that claims every country has never been to most of them. Ours is short on purpose. These are the places where somebody here has walked the ground, argued with the operator, and seen what happens when a connection fails.
The nine
- Portugal and its river valleys
- Gentle river work, small vessels, one unpacking. Best in May and late September
- Sicily and Sardinia
- Independent travel between small hotels, with or without a car. Spring and autumn only
- The Dalmatian coast
- Small ship, thirty six berths, a new town each afternoon. June and September
- The Baltic capitals
- Rail between three cities, cobbled old towns, long June evenings
- Norway, the fjords and Lofoten
- Boats rather than cars, and walking that means it. June to early September
- Northern Tanzania
- Vehicle based, four camps, the dry season and the calving weeks, nothing between
- Vietnam
- North to south in two weeks, three internal flights, constant heat
- The South Island of New Zealand
- Self drive, six bases, a walk on almost every day. November to March
- Jordan, Nepal and the Atacama
- The three trips where the ground, the ascent or the altitude is the point
What happens when you ask about somewhere else
We tell you it is not ours. Then, if it is a reasonable request, we name the kind of specialist who does it properly and we do not take a referral fee for saying so. An agency that books a country it does not know is worth less to you than an agency that admits the limit.
What we will not do anywhere
- Comment on whether a destination is safe
- That is not a judgment this office is qualified to make or willing to sell
- Arrange a visa, a passport or an entry permit
- Entry requirements are yours to confirm, and we do not advise on them
- Sell you travel insurance
- This office does not arrange it. See the question on our questions page
- Name the operator on this website
- We name them in your written proposal instead, which is where it belongs
The Sun Traveller sells nothing that it operates. The flights, the hotels, the ships, the vehicles and the guides described on this site all belong to other companies. This office finds them, checks them, books them and stays with you until you fly, and it owns no part of any of them.
